Criminal Minds

One of my modules this semester is on IT Security & Internet Law. It sounds pretty boring, but one of the subjects taught was Criminal Profiling. It was super cool.

Do you guys watch Criminal Minds..?
I'm addicted to it, well I'm addicted to a lot of tv series actually, but this is one of my favourite shows. It's something like CSI, but rather than working on the evidence found at the crime scene, the team profiles the criminals, or victims. Gathering information on the crime, and narrowing down the potential suspects and focus of an investigation resulting in a more efficient and cost effective way of solving the crime.

And we had this lecturer, who is actually a forensic investigator for law enforcement here, and she was wicked. The class was very interesting and We learn a lot, and I have become more interested in doing more research on criminal profiling for computer crimes. What can be more interesting than this..? Combining my passion for TV series and drama, with my lessons taught in class. Cool init..? And full of drama.

But this, I can't still get over it.
Last week, a teenage boy from Florida killed himself online. Apparently he has been telling people online that his life sucks and that he wanted to end his life on several occasions but never got around to do it in the past. And then, just one day he decided to OD live, on his web cam, while hundreds of people watched on, and throwing in a few encouragements to kill himself and some were just plain mean. After he died, people just thought that he was kidding, and still didn't do anything, until they realised he was actually dead, Foolish init..? Last year, a 42 year old British man hanged himself online while people just watched on.

What's happening to this world..?
Why are people so fucked up..? (Mind my language...)
Don't they have anything better to do with their lives..?

There was this 13 year old girl who hanged herself, because she was cyber-bullied and harressed online.

I can go on and on, but it's going to take my ages to tell you all the tales of internet/online/computer crime.

The thing is, whether it's crime committed virtually, or real life crimes, it all boils down to the humans act and behaviours.
Human Beings.
The creation of God.
The so-called best creation of God, with the brain that God has given.
But, how did we manage to turn out like this..?

Pathetic.
And sad.

What do we do..?
How do we move forward..?
Do we just sit back and let our society turn out to be more animal than animals..?
Do we just sit back, watch and enjoy the show..?
Do we just sit back and wait for someone else to take action..?
